Global Warming Strikes Again

Ryan Cox • May 28, 2018

On April 18th, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported, “Cardinals-Cubs game postponed with more cold, snow expected at Wrigley”. For cadre member Justin Briney of the great Ravenwood church (MO), this was good news as it meant one less loss for the Cubs.

For many others, particularly the “global warming” crowd, this was just another in a burgeoning mountain of data that disproves the fabricated narrative of man-made global warming. But don’t worry about them; they’re not giving up yet.

Take for example this headline from an AFP story: “Alaskan snow more than doubles due to global warming” (12/19/17, www.news24.com). The study’s co-author, Eric Osterberg of Dartmouth College, was quoted as saying, “We were shocked when we first saw how much snowfall has increased… Scientists keep discovering that on a regional basis, climate change is full of surprises.”

None of this is surprising to Bible-believers. Due to the global impact of the Flood, we expect great variances in weather throughout the centuries as the Earth continues to recover from that global judgement. This is why we were not surprised when a 2014 NASA study and a report by the Arctic Climate Research at the University of Illinois both showed the Antarctic ice sheet growing at billions of tons of ice per year. Quite comically, The [UK] Daily Mail had to report, “Global warming computer models confounded as Antarctic sea ice hits new record high” (7/5/14, www.dailymail.co.uk).

We were not puzzled when the AFP reported in 2014, “NASA Scientists Puzzled by Global Cooling on Land and Sea”. Josh Willis of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory claimed that despite the data, their belief in global warming was not being challenged in any way, “We’re just trying to understand the nitty-gritty details” (10/6/14, www.newsmax.com).

In 2016, Nature had to admit that the 15-year “hiatus” in global warming was indeed true (2/24/16, www.nature.com). For over a decade, alarmists had claimed that global warming was causing drastic snowfall reductions in California, Oregon, and Washington. Valerie Trouet of the University of Arizona claimed, “We should be prepared for this type of snow drought to occur much more frequently because of rising temperatures.” Porter Fox of the New York Times declared in 2014 that those states were facing “the end of snow.”

Well… last winter, California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains saw its seventh-deepest snow since 1950 and biggest since 2011, Oregon saw “historic snow depths” that smashed 20-year records, and Director Todd Myers of the Center for the Environment reported “no sign of warming” in Washington state as “Snowpack levels have been above average in eight of the last ten years” (4/29/17, www.theblaze.com).

And yet, they still continue their charge. When there were two days of nice weather this February (20-21) with some record highs along the east coast, the global warming apologists were out in strength. “Summer-like temps in February, extreme rainfall, a snow drought. This is happening more often – and in line with what scientists warn to expect with climate change” (2/21/18, insideclimatenews.org). However, as we have all witnessed, this winter (Nov. 2017 – Apr. 2018) brought with it record low temps in CO, IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, NC, NY, OH, SD, VA, and WI. Even Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida experienced snowfall, including some record levels. Philadelphia declared a snow emergency in March, and Wisconsin received 23 inches to 33 inches of snow in April!

Hence the practice of the perpetrators of this hoax is to say snow and record lows are a result of “weather” while the standard warm temperatures of summer are a result of “global warming.” Additionally, because of the nearly two decades of no warming, they’ve changed their vernacular from “global warming” to “climate change”.

The entire dogma of “climate change” is based upon computer models, not actual data. The models are based upon inputted variables selected by these advocates, which is the exact same process used in radiometric dating! Arbitrary variables are hand-picked to acquire desired dates in support of evolutionary timescales.

Last December, Earth Systems and Environment published that records in the National Oceanography Centre in Liverpool, England were tampered with to show accelerated rises in sea levels, when they are in fact stable. Last July, the Bureau of Meteorology in Australia underwent a review after it was caught tampering with climate numbers by erasing certain low temperatures. In February of 2015, The [UK] Telegraph revealed that climate data from three weather stations in South America had altered 60 years’ worth of records to make the 1950s appear colder and the 2000s warmer. In 2012, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) was caught manipulating data to make American temperatures show a warming trend since the 1930s instead of a cooling trend. Once exposed by The [UK] Telegraph and RealScience.com, NOAA reinstated the correct data. There was also the infamous “Climategate” scandal of 2009.

Again, the same exact thing is often done by perpetrators of the evolution and billions of years hoaxes. Many if not most of their dramatic claims have been withdrawn once peer reviewed by actual science. We should, therefore, never fear these people, nor doubt the authenticity of Genesis and the accuracy of Scripture. His Word stands true!

May we passionately know the Lord and His Word that we might “continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the Gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven” (Colossians 1:23).

lined up books

Over the course of time a person can accumulate many things. Most of the stuff we collect is meaningless to most everyone else, but when a person collects books, they can be treasured for a lifetime and even beyond. In this age of digital media, physical books seem to be less important to many people. Digital books are searchable, and copy/paste functions make it easy to use those great quotes. Yet, there is still something great about a physical book, things you can’t get digitally: the turning of pages, the feel of it in your hand, and the “book” smell. For our founder Dr. Sharp, physical books could never be replaced by digital. While my collection of books is growing each year, it is dwarfed by Dr. Sharp’s collection. Over the years he collected thousands of titles for research and enjoyment. Through the course of his ministry he had to sell his book collection a couple of different times to support his family, only to start collecting again when he was able to do so. When Doc passed his office full of packed bookshelves to me and said he would clear the shelves, I laughed out loud at the prospect of having loads of empty bookshelves. So I urged him to instead leave his books for my, and anyone else’s, use. Little did I understand that the four bookcases in my office were only a fraction of his entire collection. A couple of years back when Doc moved from his house, it was decided that his book collection would be stored at the office. Our thought was to establish a library, yet none of us had time to plan, organize and catalog all 79 boxes of books. They sat piled in his office until last year when my daughter Megan joined our ministry. She has a love of books, both reading and writing. So we offered her the task of cataloging and establishing Doc’s library. Can you picture me, a bbq lover, being offered a table full of succulent smoked offerings - brisket, sausage, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, turkey and all sides? Yep, that was Megan’s response to the library. For over four months she cataloged and organized the entire collection. The Dr. G. Thomas Sharp Library was completed earlier this year in his old office space, with overflow into my office. The entire 2700+ volume agglomeration is digitally cataloged for searching and locating. As you might expect, there is an extensive collection of creation and evolution subject matter, yet the library is full of many different categories. It very much reflects Doc’s love of gaining knowledge and research. An extensive commentary collection and multiple Biblical reference sections are invaluable to our ministry. There is even a whole bookcase housing books that are over 100 years old. Our desire was not to just house books but to also make a place of honor and inspiration. One wall exhibits Doc’s many diplomas, and throughout the library we have placed personal memorabilia of the mission trips he took over the years. Come, grab a book, relax in the sitting area and allow Doc’s handwritten notes from the margins or post-it notes bring a smile to your face. For those who may be more ambitious, Doc's office chair resides at the credenza for anyone to sit and be inspired to study. This is a place to honor Doc’s life and love for books. We at CTF have already utilized this great resource for further study, and we are so thankful to Diane and their family for donating these books for continued Kingdom growth. Blessings.
