Breathe

Matt Miles • November 1, 2019

The Lord God is all about giving life where there is no life. We first see this in Genesis 2 when our Creator “breathed” life into His image-bearer’s nostrils. Even just moments before that life-giving breath, man was nothing more than dust of the earth – mere matter. Evolution argues that matter can bring forth life, yet matter without divine breath is, at best, atoms without completeness.

In Ezekiel 37, we are shown that the Lord’s breath brings life to dry bones – dry bones of those that bear His name, lost and without hope until the life-giving breath radically transforms those bones to new life for His purpose. Dead bones that echoed nothing but a curse have life by His inspiration and filling.

Lastly, in 2 Timothy 3 we are told that Scripture (God’s Word) is “breathed” by Him. It is life-giving as well, with the Lord’s breath bringing righteousness and inspiration to His followers’ lives. This breath is an ongoing, life-equipping sustenance that lets our lives reflect the image of the Living Word. It causes our minds to have drive for accomplishing His will.

The Life-Giver did not just initially breathe life into matter, but He also made the way for it to be redeemed when it was lost back to the dust. The life-filled Word refines us to completeness and shows us purpose since the beginning. Are you soaking up this life-giving breath daily by His Spirit through the Word? Breathe deeply and renew your dry and dusty bones with an intentional life. Blessings.

This summer we have been busy advancing our mission. Not only have we traveled many miles in our efforts, but we have almost completed our Mobile Museum of Earth History expansion. Back at the beginning of the year when we announced the expansion, there was uncertainty around the time frame of completion since we knew the amount of design and fabrication that was needed for this task. Then an event that was scheduled for the end of summer with the full collection was upgraded to the “mega” expanded collection. This put a deadline on our expansion that focused us and applied a bit of pressure. With many hours of head scratching, planning, design and sweat, we slowly brought the expansion together. When we were unsure about new stands needed for our 24-foot wide Pteranodon , the Lord provided. Michael and Amy Harris (supporters from Willow Hill, IL) donated disc blades, while Aaron Lawrence (minister at Barnsdall Christian Church, OK) fabricated the blades into bases and made rods and hooks to hold the fossil. The stands are such a blessing and exactly what we needed to exhibit one of the Lord’s creations. The Lord has continually provided what we've needed from supplies to funds.
